Product descriptions
Dark, shredded, hardwood MULCH
Typically shredded from bark, used as a ground cover and suppressor to inhibit growth. As it is a natural product, it will decay over time and may need replacing or refreshing from year to year. Typical depth is 2". About a dozen bags will cover 100 sq. feet at 2" depth.
Screened TOPOSOIL
The organically rich upper portion of the soil that is used by plants for obtaining water and nutrients, often referred to as the horizon. Higher levels of organic matter in topsoil (as opposed to fill dirt) cause it to be darker and richer than subsoil and give it greater potential for crop production. Use it to enhance plants and plantings. Recommended for garden beds and as a starter soil for new grass seeding (grass seed mixed in) and patched areas (over the seed) plus thorough watering.
LEAFGRO
A superior quality organic compost used as a source of humus for soil enhancement. By composting leaves and grass clippings that normally would have been disposed of in a landfill, LeafGro is an environmentally 'green' product. Throughout decomposition, the product is turned often and mixed, and eventually dried and then screened prior to bagging. When planting trees and shrubs, LeafGro can be placed at the bottom of the root ball and then filled in around it. It is also excellent for lawn establishment. Use 8 bags per 100 sq. feet. Spread evenly and mix or rototill to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. If reseeding, spread the grass seed, then cover with LeafGro. Water frequently. It also makes an excellent outdoor potting soil when mixed with equal parts vermiculite and perlite.
