Senior Scholar-Athlete Award Winners, 2008-2009

  Angelica Eng -- GPA 3.87 -- Weighted GPA 4.60

Sports -- 4-yr player in Field Hockey program. Led team to regional championship and state semi-finals. 2-yr Softball.  Will atttend UMCP

  Richard Steinwand -- GPA 3.96 -- Weighted GPA 4.64

Sports -- Tennis and Golf, captain of both. If SHS awarded a number one fan, he would win it. Regularly attended almost all sports. Will attend VaTech

  Grace Kim -- GPA 3.91 -- Weighted GPA 4.64

Sports -- 4-yr player in Field Hockey program and Softball program. Hard worker and a great leader. Will attend NYU

  Joey Daniels -- GPA 3.04 -- Weighted GPA 3.71

Sports -- 4-yr player in Football program and 3-yr player in Basketball. Also played Lacrosse, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track. One of the nicest people in history of the school. Hard, hard worker. Will attend NC A&T

Rachel Browning -- GPA 3.11 -- Weighted GPA 3.65

Sports -- 4 years in Field Hockey program and Softball program (captain on both) Also played Basketball for one year. Led her FH team to a region championship and state semi-final. Will attend U of Pittsburgh

Male

Nadjitade Badje -- GPA 3.02 -- Weighted GPA 3.58

Sports -- a 4-yr member of the Soccer and Wrestling programs, was captain for both teams. In wrestling, he became SHS's first state champion since 1982. He also led the team to regional quads for three straight years, won the county, regional, Grapple at the 'Brook, Smithsburg, and Aberdeen championships. Will attend and play soccer at Shepherd University on a scholarship.
